Otha Myles, M.D.

Otha Myles, M.D., is an infectious disease physician with almost a decade of experience in HIV/AIDS research, prevention, care and treatment. He received his M.D. degree from the University of Maryland School of Medicine in Baltimore, Maryland. He is board certified in internal medicine and infectious diseases and a Diplomate of the American Board of Internal Medicine. He was trained in both internal medicine and infectious diseases at the National Capitol Consortium of Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C. He is an adjunct Assistant Professor of Medicine at the University of Maryland School of Medicine and Institute of Human Virology in Baltimore, Maryland.

Dr. Myles was commissioned into the US Army Medical Command upon graduation from medical school and has served his country in numerous capacities after his post-graduate medical education was completed. His last duty position, after thirteen years of service to his country and achieving the rank of Lieutenant Colonel, was Deputy Director of Epidemiology and Threat Assessment for the US Military HIV Research Program in Rockville, Maryland. Consequently, in this position, Dr. Myles led and worked on international projects as part of the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) in Trinidad and Tobago, Romania, Bulgaria and Thailand. Additionally, he gained experience and skill as the lead investigator/interviewer for HIV outbreak investigations. His work resulted in guiding the revision of the military’s HIV/AIDS clinical staging and treatment program.
